woices.com is a new free Internet service that allows people to create, listen and share audio information that is linked to a specific geographical location by using their mobile phone.
The company also offers an innovative system of low cost audio guides services for both cultural and touristic companies and institutions.
The start-up Woices (World voices) has created a new service that democratizes the audio guide word by allowing any person to record and disseminate information linked to a geographical point in audio format.
As if hearing somebody next to you explaining something about the place you happen to be, Woices users can listen to audio information records linked to that precise location and previously recorded by other people through their mobile phones. These geo-localized recorded audio clips are called echoes. In this way, Woices wants to help to preserve and surface the enormous quantity of stories, information and knowledge people have all over our planet and offer them in situ.

Woices services are accessible from their website, woices.com as well as from any mobile phone with an Internet connection. Moreover, since November 2009, Woices has an iPhone application that Apple offers for free on all their devices.

In addition to the universal Woices public services, the start-up has also launched a premium product addressed to the cultural and tourist sectors (museums, national parks, tourist offices, etc): the InfoSpot. This product allows them to offer a customized geo-localized audio guide service to their visitors. A subscription service, the InfoSpot is presented as a low cost alternative to traditional audio guides systems. Furthermore, it incorporates new advantages such as the possibility to develop tours or routes in places where it was not possible before (like a hike trails or a urban tours).

Another benefit for companies or institutions who have subscribed to InfoSpot is the geomarketing service. Whenever a user gets closer to an InfoSpot, he or she receives an alert about its presence and contents. In this way, the company or institution has a new mechanism to attract the attention of potential visitors.
