I'm not aware of any such comprehensive list existing. That's kind of what we're trying to compile here... Please add any you're aware of!

Is it possible to get a list of the museums that have done evaluations? It would be interesting to do some comparisons of what they've found.

Yes, and didn't San Jose Museum of Art do that too? I was thinking that those folks who checked off that they are developing for iPhones/Touches are actually creating an original interface and not just mobile CSS.

Will be interested in seeing what the Brooklyn Museum's iPhone app does.

As for museum size or visitation, we didn't ask for that information. I'm familiar with many of them and so know that many represent the history and art fields and are of varying sizes. We do include the list of participating institutions, as you probably saw, if you want to do some investigating.

Cheers~ CJ

Very interesting survey, Sheila - thanks so much for sharing it! I am especially heartened to see that the majority of museums with handheld programs are doing or plan to do visitor evaluations. This is how we improve our products and services, and advance the field.

There is one option I'm interested in which I don't think figured in your survey: browser-based tours/mobile companions. So something different from making our website work on small screens and mobile devices; rather content tailored to the mobile experience. This is what Ted Forbes at Dallas and, I believe, the IMA are doing - and what I hope to piggy back American Art's mobile content on!
